Gun Safety & Domestic Violence Prevention

In 2016, the timing was ripe for Senator Favola to collaborate with a Republican leader in the House to pass a measure that would make carrying a firearm a Class 6 felony if the abuser knowingly possesses a firearm while he is in violation of a protective order. A class 6 felony charge carries an incarceration sentence of up to 5 years and/ or a fine of up to $2,500.  Governor McAuliffe signed this bill and it is now law.
